Hi, my name is coach Wilfred Cheng, I am the only Mandarin and Cantonese speaking registered Level 1 squash coach in Melbourne. I am currently a part time squash coach at Westerfolds Squash Centre, which traces its history back into the 1950s. Westerfolds has eight wonderful courts and a newly built indoor pickleball court.

Squash might be a rather unfamiliar sport to Chinese people, but now is a good time to learn about it because it will finally be included in the 2028 LA Olympics! There are a number of advantages to playing squash. Firstly, it is all-weather, so there no need to be exposed to the elements like rain or sunshine. Squash is a quick intense workout, which good for city people with busy schedules. Depending on what you like, you can practice squash solo, attend group classes or play in teams. Most importantly, you can make lots of friends playing squash.

If you are new to squash and would like to try, there are a number of programs or offers for
new players of any age available in Westerfolds, such as:
– Private coaching (Anytime, for all ages. I tend to do coaching on Saturday
afternoons);
– Court hire (During centre opening hours);
– Squash Minis (Sundays 3-4pm, for 3-6 year olds)
– Junior Development Program (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4:45-5:45pm, for 6-15
year olds)

For more experienced players, there are also a number of competitions and group trainings and membership options available.

Right next to the Westerfolds Squash Centre is the Westerfolds Swim School which boasts a 4 lane indoor swimming pool heated all year round to a balmy 33 degrees. Classes are available for babies aged 6 months up to school aged children in the teens.
